What We Can Customize For Your Game Dice?

1. Custom Dice Materials & Factory Selection Guide

Choosing the right material impacts not just the aesthetics, but your bulk production budget and shipping overhead. As a direct manufacturer, we analyze your gameplay environment to recommend the optimal substrate.

Acrylic Dice (High-Volume Board Games)

Acrylic is the industry standard for mass-produced board games due to its high cost-efficiency, excellent color stability across large runs, and rapid manufacturing cycles.

  • Factory Insights: We utilize automated injection molding for standard 16mm D6 acrylic dice to ensure high-density yields and precise weight distribution.
  • Manufacturing Tip: While acrylic is durable, highly intricate multi-color logos can experience micro-alignment shifts during mass pad printing. We review your line weights upfront to guarantee crisp, high-contrast results on the production line.

Resin Dice (Premium RPG & Collector Sets)

Resin is engineered for high-end visual dynamics—ideal for sharp-edge RPG polyhedral sets, liquid-core inserts, glitter inclusions, and complex swirl patterns.

  • Factory Insights: Unlike mass-molded acrylic, premium resin dice require specialized silicone molds and extended pressure-curing cycles to eliminate micro-bubbles.
  • Manufacturing Tip: Because resin involves meticulous hand-crafting and polishing stages, batch-to-batch color variance is slightly higher. We anchor mass production against a locked physical “Golden Sample” to maintain strict quality control.

Wooden Dice (Eco-Themed & Educational Titles)

Wooden dice offer an unmatched tactile, organic feel, making them perfect for children’s games, educational kits, and sustainable tabletop projects.

  • Factory Insights: We precision-carve and turn premium maple and beech hardwoods using advanced CNC machinery, followed by tumbling to achieve smooth, splinter-free edges.
  • Manufacturing Tip: Due to natural wood grains and density variations, fine or low-contrast printed symbols can bleed. We strongly recommend bold laser engraving or high-density hot stamping to ensure lifelong readability.

Metal Dice (Deluxe Editions & Heavyweight Expansions)

Die-cast from premium zinc alloy, metal dice deliver a heavy, satisfying roll and elite shelf presence for deluxe kickstarter rewards or collector expansions.

  • Factory Insights: Our facility utilizes high-pressure zinc die-casting machinery paired with electroplating, antique brushing, or matte anodizing finishes.
  • Manufacturing Tip: Heavy metal dice can easily dent game boards or crack plastic inserts during transit. We co-engineer custom EVA foam trays and tin packaging along with your metal dice orders to eliminate shipping damage.

2. Engineering Standards: Dice Sizes, Shapes & Tolerances

A perfectly engineered die balances readability, hand-feel, and box-nesting efficiency. Non-standard dimensions require professional factory layout validation before tooling fabrication.

Standard 16mm D6 (The Retail Golden Standard)

The 16mm D6 remains our most highly optimized configuration for commercial tabletop games. It fits standard vacuum-formed inserts perfectly, keeps freight costs predictable, and offers the most competitive tooling amortization.

Rounded-Edge vs. Sharp-Edge Calibration

  • Rounded-Edge Dice: Our factory default for family and mass-market board games. The tumbled, rounded edges reduce friction, protect delicate linen-finish card stocks, and comply with international toy safety regulations (CE/TUV) for younger players.
  • Sharp-Edge Dice: Hand-polished to retain mathematically sharp vertices. We reserve this process for premium resin RPG lines where sharp edges are essential for randomized roll distribution and luxury visual appeal.

Polyhedral Sets (D4 to D20 Molding)

We support full polyhedral array tooling (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, D%). Custom injection molds for polyhedral configurations require precise gating geometry to prevent “sink marks” (surface shrinkage) during the cooling phase, a QC standard we enforce on every custom tool.

3. Industrial Surface Finishing & High-Contrast Branding

A die face has only one job: instant, effortless readability at the gaming table. We offer multiple industrial branding methods tailored to your project’s volume and material.

Pad Printing & Industrial UV Printing

  • Pad Printing: The go-to method for high-speed, cost-sensitive branding on acrylic and wood. Ideal for single-color symbols and standard numeric pips.
  • UV Printing: Best utilized for multi-colored, flat graphics. However, since printed ink sits on the high-contact outer surface, we apply a clear protective top-coat to prevent paint scratching during intensive rolling.

Recessed Engraving & Color Filling

By carving the artwork directly into the mold cavity (or laser-etching on metal/wood), symbols are permanently recessed into the die face.

  • The Factory Advantage: Recessed artwork completely eliminates ink wear-and-tear. Our production lines utilize automated precise needle-filling to inject high-contrast lacquer into the engraved markings, ensuring the text pops against dark or translucent backgrounds.

Surface Textures: Gloss, Matte & Satin Sealing

  • Gloss Polish: Achieved through multi-stage industrial tumbling barrels, creating a mirror-like finish that accentuates transparent acrylic or swirling resin colors.
  • Matte / Frosted Finish: Softens intense reflections, reducing table glare but requiring bolder text profiles to preserve contrast.
  • Satin Varnish: Exclusively applied to our wooden lines to seal the organic fibers against ambient humidity while maintaining a natural wood texture.

OEM / ODM Manufacturing Process

Project & Component Mapping

Step 1: Project Review & Component Mapping

We do not quote from a loose parts list. We quote from a complete product plan.

Before pricing, we map every component: board, cards, tokens, rulebook, insert, box, and accessories. We check how they fit as one packed set. This keeps the quote accurate. It also prevents surprises later in tooling, packing, and freight. We check:

  • Board size and fold type
  • Card count and deck thickness
  • Rulebook size and page count
  • Insert and box structure
  • Punchboards, wooden parts, dice, meeples, or plastic parts after that
  • Target quantity and delivery market

Getting this order right keeps your project on budget and on schedule.

Step 2: DFM Check & Manufacturing Review

A bad sample usually starts from a design that was never checked for real production.

Before we build samples, we review your files for real-world manufacturing. We check dielines, bleed, safe zones, fold lines, card thickness, box depth, insert fit, and surface finish. We fix these issues before sampling:

  • Artwork too close to cut edge
  • Board folds that may crack after lamination
  • Cards too thick for the tuck box or insert
  • Punchboard tokens too small or weak after die-cutting
  • Box depth too tight once all parts are packed
  • Freight cost rising because box size was not controlled early

If the packed set cannot close cleanly, changing the finish will not fix it. We fix the structure first.

Step 3: Sample Production & Approval

The sample is not a photo shoot. It is the production standard.

We build the first sample to test material feel, fold strength, color accuracy, box fit, insert tightness, and total weight. You review it. You approve it. This approved sample becomes the Golden Sample. All mass production is checked against it.

After this point, changes to board size, card stock, insert, or box depth will restart cost and lead time. We keep the sample stable so your bulk order stays on track.

Step 4: Tooling & Mold Setup

We open tooling only after the Golden Sample is locked.

Tooling covers die-cut tools for cards, boards, punchboards, inserts, and boxes. For special plastic parts, we may need molds or fixtures.

We never rush tooling while the design is still moving. Once the die is made, changes cost time and money. We wait for your final approval before cutting steel.

This protects your tooling investment and keeps the project on schedule.

Step 5: Pre-Production Validation

Small errors are cheapest to catch before the full run.

We run a small pre-production batch. We check color drift, cutting position, fold accuracy, board thickness, surface finish, and component fit.

If anything does not match the Golden Sample, we stop and fix it before using more material. This step saves both time and cost.

This is why we never skip pre-production validation.

Step 6: Mass Production & Assembly

A game is not done when the parts are printed. It is done when the box closes properly.

Cards, boards, Punchboards, rulebooks, boxes, inserts, wooden pieces, dice, and accessories have to work as one packed set. During assembly, we check whether the approved packing layout still makes sense at production speed.

This is critical for B2B orders. Your distributor receives finished goods, not loose parts. Every set must be packed clean, stack flat, and ship safely.

We control assembly so your goods arrive ready for shelf or warehouse.

Step 7: Final QC & Global Shipping

A perfect product can still fail if the carton is wrong.

Before shipping, we check carton count, sets per carton, gross weight, carton size, shipping marks, and barcode labels. We match everything to your purchase order.

For B2B and retail orders, we also check pallet markings and stack height.

Small direct shipments get standard export packing. We ship by DHL, FedEx, or sea freight with full tracking. Every order leaves our factory with correct paperwork.

Why This Process Matters

Most problems do not show up early. They show up after one wrong decision forces the next.

  • A larger board changes the fold size.
  • The fold size changes the box footprint.
  • The box footprint changes insert and carton fit.
  • The carton fit changes freight cost.
  • Thicker cards can make the insert too tight.
  • A late artwork change delays sampling and mass production.

This process is not meant to slow you down. For simple projects, we keep it fast. For complex projects with many parts, retail rules, or tight deadlines, these checks protect you from costly rework.
