Bridge Size Playing Cards(Round Corner)
For bridge size playing cards, round corners are not there for visual softness. They are part of what makes the narrower format work in real gameplay. Bridge cards are typically held in larger quantities, fanned repeatedly, and shuffled over extended sessions. Once the sharp point is removed, the corners are less likely to catch or wear unevenly, allowing the deck to remain presentable through continued use.
The bridge format (57 × 88 mm) is often selected for games where players manage 10 or more cards at a time. In these situations, handling comfort and edge durability matter more than visual styling. Round corners make the deck easier to handle and less likely to start showing corner wear too early. For bridge decks that are meant to be played regularly, that is usually the safer format to stay with.

Card Layout & Artwork Setup
Artwork setup is not a visual step — it defines how tolerant the deck is in production.
Most alignment issues are not printing defects. They come from layout decisions made too early, before production limits are considered.
Thin borders, centered frames, or front-to-back positional matching all reduce tolerance. Even normal cutting variation becomes visible under these conditions.
These problems rarely show in the first sample. They appear later — during full production or repeat runs.

Layout determines tolerance.
Full bleed hides variation. Centered layouts reveal it.
Most “misaligned cards” complaints come from border design, not printing accuracy.
Custom Round Corner Bridge Cards
With bridge cards, the advantage of round corners is not something you judge from a fresh sample. It becomes obvious only after repeated handling. Players usually hold and fan more cards at one time, so the corners keep taking contact. If the point stays sharp, that is where the deck usually starts to look used first.Round corners help spread that wear out, so the deck keeps a cleaner edge for longer.
This matters even more in bridge-format decks because handling comfort and visual consistency usually matter more than edge styling. The stock itself is not stronger. The deck just stays presentable longer once it goes into regular play.
From the production side, round corners are also the easier default. Most bridge decks run on standard corner tooling, usually around the normal R3–R5 mm range, so the cut is more predictable and repeat orders are easier to keep consistent. Another issue usually starts in the artwork, not in the cutting. If borders or icons sit too close to the corner, they can feel tight after die-cutting even when the cut is correct. That check needs to happen early in the file stage.
For bridge and other trick-taking decks that will be handled often, round corner is usually the safer place to start. It becomes less necessary only when the project is being driven mainly by edge styling or collector presentation, where a sharper corner may suit the look better but will also show wear sooner.
