Bridge Size Playing Cards(Holographic)
For bridge size playing cards, holographic is not just a visual upgrade. On a narrower format, once the surface turns reflective, the artwork becomes less forgiving and the deck starts behaving differently in actual use.
Bridge decks are usually held in larger hands and read more quickly side by side. That makes glare and contrast loss more noticeable than many clients expect. Holographic can work, but only when the visual effect is part of the concept from the start. If the deck still needs clean reading and fast hand recognition, this is not where we would start by default.

Card Layout & Artwork Setup
Artwork setup is not a visual step — it defines how tolerant the deck is in production.
Most alignment issues are not printing defects. They come from layout decisions made too early, before production limits are considered.
Thin borders, centered frames, or front-to-back positional matching all reduce tolerance. Even normal cutting variation becomes visible under these conditions.
These problems rarely show in the first sample. They appear later — during full production or repeat runs.

Layout determines tolerance.
Full bleed hides variation. Centered layouts reveal it.
Most “misaligned cards” complaints come from border design, not printing accuracy.
Custom Holographic Bridge Cards
The problem with holographic bridge cards is not whether the surface looks striking. It usually does. The problem starts when the same reflective effect lands on a narrower card face where layout space is already tighter.
Bridge size is often chosen because players hold more cards at once. Once holographic film is added, small icons, fine dividers, and low-contrast text become harder to read under overhead light. That issue rarely shows in a flat artwork file. It shows when the deck is in hand.
From the production side, the cost increase is only part of it. The bigger change is that the artwork has to work with the substrate instead of sitting on top of it. If the design still depends on subtle gradients, dark-value control, or quiet background texture, holographic usually starts working against the deck.
This format makes more sense for promotional bridge decks, branded retail products, and collector runs where visual distinction matters more than fast gameplay reading. If the deck is built for trick-taking play with frequent hand management, holographic is usually the wrong place to chase impact.
