Bridge Size Playing Cards(Front)
For bridge size playing cards, front-only printing is often the more sensible setup when the usable information sits mainly on the face of the card. Since bridge cards are narrower than poker cards, the layout usually feels tighter from the start. Keeping the structure to front-only helps avoid extra registration trouble and makes the deck easier to hold steady in production.
This works well for trick-taking games, teaching decks, and promotional card sets where the back only needs to stay consistent across the deck. If the reverse side does not carry hidden game information, there is usually no real benefit in making the job more complicated than it needs to be.

Card Layout & Artwork Setup
Artwork setup is not a visual step — it defines how tolerant the deck is in production.
Most alignment issues are not printing defects. They come from layout decisions made too early, before production limits are considered.
Thin borders, centered frames, or front-to-back positional matching all reduce tolerance. Even normal cutting variation becomes visible under these conditions.
These problems rarely show in the first sample. They appear later — during full production or repeat runs.

Layout determines tolerance.
Full bleed hides variation. Centered layouts reveal it.
Most “misaligned cards” complaints come from border design, not printing accuracy.
Custom Front Bridge Cards
On bridge-size cards, small front-to-back movement shows sooner than many people expect. The format is narrower, so there is less room for the artwork to absorb even a slight shift. Borders, centered layouts, and corner elements are usually where the problem shows first. A deck may still look acceptable when stacked, but once the cards are fanned out in hand, the inconsistency becomes much easier to notice. That is one reason front-only printing is often the safer choice on this size. Once the back is no longer part of the registration problem, the whole deck is simply easier to keep visually steady.
Material choice also becomes less restrictive. Since there is no printed content on the reverse side that needs to be blocked, the stock does not have to rely on black-core paper for opacity. For many bridge-size projects, standard paper stock is enough. That helps on cost, and it also makes sourcing and repeat production more straightforward. In practical terms, this is useful for projects that want the familiar handling of a traditional bridge deck without paying for a structure the gameplay does not actually need.
This setup works well for trick-taking games, teaching decks, and branded card sets where the back only needs to stay uniform across the pack. It is much less suitable once hidden information becomes part of the game. If players need to rely on the reverse side for secrecy, or if the front and back must align to each other visually, then front-only is usually not the right direction.
