Bridge Size Playing Cards(Plastic)
For bridge size playing cards, plastic is not just paper stock made tougher. Once the deck moves to PVC or PET, it stops feeling like a normal bridge deck in hand. That matters more on bridge cards because players usually hold more of them at one time, so changes in slickness and stiffness start showing up very quickly once the deck is being sorted and played.
Plastic makes more sense when the deck is expected to stay in service under heavier use and rougher conditions. It lasts well, but anyone expecting the feel of a traditional paper bridge deck will notice the difference almost immediately.

Card Layout & Artwork Setup
Artwork setup is not a visual step — it defines how tolerant the deck is in production.
Most alignment issues are not printing defects. They come from layout decisions made too early, before production limits are considered.
Thin borders, centered frames, or front-to-back positional matching all reduce tolerance. Even normal cutting variation becomes visible under these conditions.
These problems rarely show in the first sample. They appear later — during full production or repeat runs.

Layout determines tolerance.
Full bleed hides variation. Centered layouts reveal it.
Most “misaligned cards” complaints come from border design, not printing accuracy.
Custom Plastic Bridge Cards
Plastic bridge cards start showing their value only after the deck has been used for a while. Bridge players usually keep more cards in hand, and the deck goes through constant fanning, sorting, dealing, and reordering. In that kind of use, plastic holds up much better against edge wear, creasing, and moisture than paper does. That is why this material is easier to justify in clubs, cruise settings, hospitality use, and other places where the deck is expected to stay in service instead of being treated gently.
The difference also shows in the hand feel. Bridge cards are already working in a narrower format, so changes in surface feel do not stay hidden for long. Plastic usually feels slicker than paper, and on a bridge deck that can show up very quickly once the cards are being fanned and dealt. Some players are fine with that. Others feel the deck has lost some of the control and familiarity they expect from a traditional paper bridge pack.
Print behavior changes too. Plastic does not carry the image in quite the same way as paper stock. Bold graphics usually carry without much trouble, but softer artwork can start feeling flatter once it is printed on PVC or PET. That is one reason the artwork usually needs adjusting earlier than people expect.
Plastic bridge cards are also not the easy option for small runs. Setup is heavier, the MOQ usually lands higher, and the deck only starts making real sense when durability is already part of the job. For that reason, plastic sits more naturally on high-usage bridge decks than on heritage-style projects, small-batch runs, or products where paper feel is still part of the point.
