Plastic Tarot Cards
For tarot cards, plastic is usually being chosen for durability first. Tarot decks are picked up, laid out, gathered back into the deck, and kept in use over long periods, so paper wear shows up sooner than many people expect. Once the deck moves to PVC or PET, that part changes. The cards hold up better against moisture, edge wear, and repeated handling, which is why plastic can make sense on tarot when long service life matters more than paper feel.
The larger tarot format usually carries plastic better than smaller cards do, but the deck will not feel or print like a paper tarot deck afterward. That change needs to be understood early, before the artwork and structure are already moving in the wrong direction.

Card Layout & Artwork Setup
Artwork setup is not a visual step — it defines how tolerant the deck is in production.
Most alignment issues are not printing defects. They come from layout decisions made too early, before production limits are considered.
Thin borders, centered frames, or front-to-back positional matching all reduce tolerance. Even normal cutting variation becomes visible under these conditions.
These problems rarely show in the first sample. They appear later — during full production or repeat runs.

Layout determines tolerance.
Full bleed hides variation. Centered layouts reveal it.
Most “misaligned cards” complaints come from border design, not printing accuracy.
Custom Plastic Tarot Cards — Durable, Waterproof & Fully Yours.
Plastic tarot cards usually start proving themselves only after the deck has been used for a while. Water, edge wear, bending, and repeated handling do much less to them than they would to a paper tarot deck. That makes plastic much easier to justify on reading decks that are in regular use, on travel decks, and on any project that may be handled in less controlled environments. Over time, the deck usually stays cleaner and more stable than a paper version would.
Plastic changes the print result in a way paper does not. Tarot artwork that depends on soft gradients or a painterly look can lose some of its depth once it moves onto PVC or PET. Stronger contrast and cleaner graphic structure usually hold up more easily here. That adjustment needs to happen early, not after the material has already been chosen.
The hand feel changes too. Plastic tarot cards are usually smoother and a little stiffer than paper, and that difference starts showing once the deck is spread, stacked, and gathered again and again in actual use. Some readers are comfortable with that straight away. Others feel the deck has lost some of the softer, more familiar feel that paper tarot carries naturally.
Packaging also has to be treated as part of the same job. Plastic cards usually build a thicker and firmer stack, so rigid boxes and magnetic boxes cannot be sized by habit alone. The fit needs to be checked from the sampled deck, not guessed from the flat file.
Plastic tarot carries better on professional reading decks, travel products, educational tools, and other projects where durability matters every day. It gets harder to justify on collector decks, fine-art tarot, or smaller runs where paper feel, print character, or tighter cost control still matter more.
